Terms of use
Last updated: July 18, 2026
Acceptance
By using nihongolearn.app or the Nihongo Learn extension you agree to these terms, an agreement between you and Daniel Hernández (Dominican Republic), the independent developer who operates the service (“the operator”). If you do not agree, please do not use the service. Contact: support@nihongolearn.app.
The service
Nihongo Learn is provided free of charge, “as is” and without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. Features may change and we may modify or discontinue parts of the service; the data in your extension is always yours and exportable.
Accounts
You only need an account to publish, rate or report community decks. You must provide accurate information and be at least 16 (or your country’s digital-consent age). We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms; you can delete your account at any time by writing to support@nihongolearn.app.
Your content
You keep ownership of the decks you publish. By publishing you grant the operator a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, display and distribute that content as part of the service, and you grant other users the right to download and use it for personal learning. Publish only content you have the right to share — you are responsible for what you publish. Your review progress is never published.
Prohibited content and moderation
Do not publish content that is illegal, abusive, hateful, misleading, spam, or that infringes third-party rights. We review user reports and may hide or remove any deck and restrict accounts, applying these rules objectively and proportionately. If you believe we made a mistake, write to support@nihongolearn.app and we will review the decision.
Copyright complaints
If you believe published content infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@nihongolearn.app including: the work concerned, the URL of the deck, your contact details, a good-faith statement that the use is unauthorized, and your signature. We expeditiously remove or disable reported content, notify the publisher (who may submit a counter-notice), and terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
Third-party data and donations
Stroke-order data comes from KanjiVG (Creative Commons BY-SA); dictionary data comes from JMdict (EDRDG licence) and Jisho.org — their licences apply to that data. Donations are handled entirely by Ko-fi under Ko-fi’s own terms; we never receive or store payment details.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of data or lost profits arising from the use of a free service, and total liability is limited to the amount you paid for it (zero). Nothing in these terms limits non-waivable rights granted by the consumer law of your country.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Dominican Republic and its courts, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date above reflects the current version and material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
